P.A. L. Fish Hatchery Trip! and mountain lion!

so this trip was awesome! me and macie had so much fun! the police dept. took the kids on a summer field trip!Started out at the donut factory of course!
We went to a fish hatchery up in Friant, CA. This place was amazing! there was a guide who showed us throughout the plant. and taught us alot of cool interesting info....






 BUT, i must say, the mountain lion tid bit, stole the show...=)

So we show up there, about 15 kids, 3 officers, and about 4 parents. none of us had really been there before, or at least not for a couple years.
right away a super nice, MOUNTAIN MAN ALL THE WAY,


 comes out, starts telling us what all the buildings are, and what the tanks do, and we are LITTERALLY  maybe 10 minutes into the tour and he says...
"SO, a couple times a year we get mountain lions on our property. and due to the state rules, removal process, (blah blah p.c. correct cause he is with cops..yadda yadda..) we have to "put down"  the mountain lions and keep them frozen for the fish and game dept. to come and see them, and remove them from property."

all the adults perk up.... kinda like.." um.. did he just say....?..."wha-?"

mountain man...says.."... last week we had to put down 2 mountain lions, and now we have 3 in our big walk in freezer. so if you will all follow me INTO the freezer, id like to show you those now...file in.."

"we were all ... "did he just-?" "and he wants us to-?" "and there dead-?" "a walk in freezer-?"

!!!!! i look over at correena and i say.." did this guy just say he was going to walk us, kids and all... in a freezer?.in the mountains?.....um... you have ur weapon right?"... she smiles and says.."all 3 of us do.. we're good..."

! it was way, way more funny of a situation than it sounds typed out.!!! it was seriously a trip!

all was well, everyone survived, and the tour continued! we saw fish hatching, and all the different ages, and then had pizza, and came home!

ok, we all seriously got a kick out of this sign too... we LOVED it that the sign says it is..."requested"... they didn't say... "do not touch" OR "stay away"... but they nicely "request"... lol

we went to mooneys grove and found an awesome spot for the girls to ride their bikes! northern side of the park that has the disc golf course is totally blocked off! so the kids can ride back and forth! it was litterally perfect!!!

Camp Read!

so, every year our church teams up with the local school district & teachers and puts on a summer camp that helps kids with reading. it is 5 weeks, 2 days a week.they do reading out loud, comprehension, etc.etc.. and if the kids are advanced they bump them up and challenge them! then the scores are sent the childs school, and it is just great brain work for them all the way around..=) Grades 1st-6th participate.. and this years they broke thier record with 96 kids!!!!!!!!!!    whooooo whoooo!

we went to a local park where they weekly add new fish! and really enjoyed the morning with my dad! and Malorie's hero.. Uncle Chris (my brother) showed up to help madelyn! it was fun! makes me want to do it for real, with no kiddo's and just enjoy some fishing! in a real lake! haha

July 4th!

so, this year, i worked at the firework booth for police dept. =) (PALs) and i bought waaayyyyyy too many, so our neighbors decided to all group together and share, and i think we all spent over 300 dollars of fireworks! and the kids seriously had soo much fun! we had some friends over, and my paremts, and it was AWESOME!

Vacation Bible School! amazing wonders aviation!

so we had a ton of fun for the week of V.B.S.! lindsay and i had a blast running the snack flight crew! our snack table was the "runway" and the whole week wqs an around the world theme!
 all the snacks were also themed! and it was a great start and highlight to the summer!
the girls all had thier own classes, and it was said to be seriously the best VBS we ever had there!

Madelyn summer school!

so to start the year out at the school, all begining kindergarteners have to go to a 2 week summer program, to get them used to the "routine"..

Madelyn did..eennhhh.... ok, more poor love bug had a harder time leaving me, every day... so by the end of the 2 weeks i was practically bribing her daily to just finish it out! poor thing!

so, we finished off our year at church!

what is awanas?

well, it is kinda like "youth group" at church. it has a bible lesson, a craft, an activity & snack.
ages 2 1/2-6th grade.
it goes on during the school year in the evening once a week.
we always have a closing ceremony at the end of school, break for summer, and then start again during september..=)

this year we really enjoyed the box car race! my girls, of course, decorated thier own cars!
